Mass. Realtors sell headquarters

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Massachusetts Association of Realtors has sold its headquarters for $2.3 million to an affiliate of the Bulfinch Companies Inc.
The Realtors said they have outgrown the 7,569-square-foot building at 256 Second Ave. But the association will remain there while it searches for a new home.
“Nearly two years ago, we decided that it was time to find larger headquarters for the greatly-expanded services that we provide to our 19,000 members across Massachusetts,” association CEO Robert Authier said. “We need larger classroom and parking space for member programs, as well as office space more conducive to our staffing needs.”
The buyer, Bulfinch Companies, is a Needham-based real estate investment and development firm. In a news release, the company said it is evaluating redeveloping the property as offices, a host for life sciences research or retail.
The building becomes the third addition to Bulfinch’s Waltham portfolio, which also includes Trapelo Corporate Center on Trapelo Road and the Waltham Tech Center on First Avenue.
