Mullen named Providence Country Day School board president

EAST PROVIDENCE – A 2002 alumnus of the Providence Country Day School, John Mullen, a portfolio manager at Parsons Capital Management in Providence, was named the school’s president of the board of trustees effective July 1, according to a late June statement by the school.

With a decade of investment-management experience under his belt, Mullen previously served as board treasurer prior to his current leadership appointment.

In a statement, he said he is excited to serve as board president and looks “forward to continuing the positive momentum with the new strategic plan and other transformations that will redefine the experience of a student at Providence Country Day.”

Mullen received a joint bachelor’s degree in economics and psychology from Fairfield University before continuing his education at Providence College, where he received an MBA with a focus on finance.

Recent appointments to the board also include new trustees Matt Beardwood, director of wealth management at Westover Capital in Wilmington, Del., and son of a PCD Class of 1954 member, as well as Joanna Saltonstall, who oversees interior design as a Brown University program director in the facilities management department and mother to Hannah Farwell, PCD Class of 2019.
