At FairyTea Room in Warren, it’s not uncommon for customers to arrive dressed a bit beyond the ordinary.
“People will come here sometimes dressed to the nines, like with fancy dress and fancy hats,” said co-owner Sara-Beth Warner. “They’re all dolled up.”
While dressing up is by no means mandatory – customers visit in all attire – the business provides “an affordable way for people to feel a little bit fancy,” Warner said.
Warner and co-owner Korto Tawse-Butha, childhood friends turned business partners, opened the tearoom in November 2024 at 69 Market St. in Warren, seeking to offer an experience that’s both extravagant and inclusive to a range of tastes.
“It’s a great way for people to just come and relax and feel a bit more playful than you normally would,” Warner said, “and to feel a bit elevated.”
The business’s signature offering is a full afternoon tea, a British tradition featuring its namesake beverage served with a spread of light lunch and dessert options. But the menu also features more-casual lunch options, as well as non-tea beverages for those who want the tearoom experience but prefer a different drink.
“It offers a little bit more variety, a little more flexibility,” Tawse-Butha said.
