Inpatient rehabilitation is meant to help patients regain functions they’ve lost. This includes relearning skills needed for daily living like bathing, dressing, balance, eating, swallowing, speaking, mobility as well as reducing pain and cognitive deficits.

“I regularly receive letters and emails from former Vanderbilt patients and their families wanting to express their gratitude for the care they received,” said Crista Durand, president of Newport Hospital. “Patients arrive here apprehensive about the road to recovery based on their highly acute conditions. The enormity of the situation can be overwhelming for patients and families, and the team at Vanderbilt is unmatched at providing assurance and exceptional care in the most therapeutic and loving environment. I am not surprised that this team has received this recognition, it’s well deserved.”
