PROVIDENCE – Oak Street Health cut the ribbon at its second Rhode Island center in collaboration with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island last week in South Providence.

The network’s first location in the state opened last year in Warwick.

Both centers provide value-based primary care for adults on Medicare. The newest location, which officially opened on Feb. 3, is at 712 Broad St.

“Every Oak Street Health Center is dedicated to providing our patients with the attention needed, not only to treat immediate health concerns but also to uncover underlying conditions and social determinants that can be overlooked in the traditional setting,” Greg Sciarra, Oak Street Health regional vice president, said during the center’s grand opening.

Oak Street offers extended time with physicians, individualized treatment plans, a round-the-clock hotline and transportation to and from the center for some patients. Services such as behavioral health and social wellness support, along with Medicare education classes, are offered at the center as well.

“We’re thrilled at the community response to Oak Street Health. Collaborating with Oak Street has enabled us to offer our Medicare members outstanding care that meets their needs across the spectrum of physical, social and behavioral health challenges,” said Kim A. Keck, Blue Cross CEO and president. “This community-based, wraparound approach is already making a difference, exceeding our original expectations and fueling our optimism about future health outcomes and the total well-being of Rhode Island.”
