Keeping veterans warm
Ocean State Job Lot is currently running its annual Buy, Give, Get coat donation program to support veterans in need. During the discount retailer’s program, any Job Lot customer who purchases a warm winter coat for $40 and gives it back to the store as a donation will receive a $40 Crazy Deal Gift Card for free to be used for any future purchase at a Job Lot location. Preventing drug use
The Council to Prevent Opioid Dependence will hold its December fundraiser on Wednesday, Dec. 7, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Hope Street Pizza and Family Restaurant, 772 Hope St., Providence. The event will raise funds to help support opioid dependence reduction efforts across the area. Tickets cost $50 and sponsorship opportunities are available. The Empowerment Factory, a nonprofit that is dedicated to giving children the skills they need to lead happier, healthier and more empowered lives, will hold its annual meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 7, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Hope Artiste Village, 999 Main St., Pawtucket. The meeting will be a celebration of the organization’s accomplishments over the last year. Following the meeting, there will be a reception, with attendees making some art and sharing light refreshments. The event is free to attend but a donation to support the organization is encouraged. A night of art
The Women’s Health & Education Fund of Rhode Island will hold an art show and silent auction on Wednesday, Dec. 14, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Flatbread Pizza Co., 161 Cushing St., Providence. Rhode Islanders Sponsoring Education will hold its RISE For The Holidays fundraiser on Thursday, Dec. 15, from 6:30-10 p.m. at Linden Place, 500 Hope St., Bristol. Attendees will be offered cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, and jazz vocalist Tish Adams will provide the music for the evening.
