PROVIDENCE – Five historic preservation projects around the state have been awarded Preserve Rhode Island-Citizens Bank Foundation Mini-Grants of $1,000, the preservation group said.
The mini-grant program was established by Preserve Rhode Island in 1999 through the assistance of the Citizens Bank Foundation – the philanthropic arm of Providence-based Citizens Financial Group Inc. – to provide seed money for preservation projects in Rhode Island. Over the nine years since then, it has awarded nearly $72,000 to 71 preservation projects statewide.

• The Pawtuxet Village Association in Cranston, to support the creation of petitions, cards, letters and other marketing and educational materials to be used in informing the neighborhood of the benefits of local historic zoning.
