Providence accounting firm KLR makes Inside Public Accounting’s top 100 list

PROVIDENCE – The Providence-based accounting firm Kahn Litwin Renza & Co. moved up two notches to No. 87 on this year’s list of the 100 largest U.S. accounting firms by Inside Public Accounting magazine.

Kahn Litwin Renza moved up with net revenue of $46.8 million, a 6 percent increase from last year, the magazine reported.

The rankings, based on net revenue and released this week in the magazine’s August issue, also included five other firms with a large presence in Rhode Island but headquartered elsewhere.

They were:

  • KPMG LLP, based in New York, at No. 4 with net revenue of $8.96 billion, the company would not disclose change from last year
  • CBIZ & MHM, based in Cleveland and Kansas City, Mo., at No. 10 with net revenue of $718 million, up 5.6 percent from last year
  • Marcum LLP, based in New York, at No. 16 with net revenue of $469.5 million, up 6 percent from last year
  • Citrin Cooperman & Co., based in New York, at No. 23 with net revenue of $244 million, up 4 percent from last year
  • Blum Shapiro & Co., based in West Hartford, Conn., at No. 59 with net revenue of $79.4 million, down 4.6 percent from last year

The rankings depict an entrenched and top-heavy industry, with the four largest firms generating revenues far above the rest of the field, and with no movement among the 20 largest firms from last year’s rankings.

The three largest firms each had net revenue exceeding $10 billion.

They were: Deliotte, based in New York, at No. 1 with net revenue of $18.55 billion, up 5.9 percent from last year; PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, based in New York, at No. 2 with net revenue of $15.99 billion, up 11.7 percent from last year; and EY, based in New York, at No. 3 with net revenue of $13 billion, up 7 percent from last year.
