The Providence Center held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the Botvin, Procaro, Teverow Families Therapeutic Playground.
The playground was created to be a therapeutic and educational space for children ages 3 to 6 who attend the Early Childhood Institute and preschool classrooms at The Providence Center School. It was designed by architects Mike Lindstrom and Joanne Hiromura of Horizons Designs, a firm in Brookline, Mass.
“For many of our students, play isn’t something that comes naturally. Not only will this playground be a safe play area, but it will also serve as a means for practicing techniques that will help our students to succeed when they return to their community schools and daycares,” said Dale K. Klatzker, president and CEO of The Providence Center.
In addition to the families for whom the playground is named, a number of local groups made contributions, including CVS Caremark Charitable Trust, which presented a $25,000 check at the ceremony. &#8226
