PROVIDENCE – City residents may be eligible for discounted internet services under a new municipal program.
The city’s Affordable Connectivity Program will provide eligible residents with an internet service discount of up to $30 per month, Providence officials announced last week, and will also support residents with purchasing technology such as laptops, tablets and desktop computers.

Elorza said in a statement that Providence leaders “continue to see how absolutely essential access to the internet is to our daily lives, in everything from participating in our economy, to getting an education, staying connected to loved ones, and so much more.
“I am pleased that the Mayor’s Center for City Services is now able to assist Providence residents in accessing this critical federal program, and I encourage all residents who think they might be eligible to call our team and learn more,” Elorza continued.
Assistance is available to households that have an income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level or who participate in certain federal and state programs. Full guidelines are posted at providenceri.gov/pvdconnects.
