PROVIDENCE – The 2016 Providence Symposium, organized by the Providence Preservation Society, will begin Nov. 3 and focus on issues surrounding the question ‘Why Preserve?’
National experts in preservation will converge at the Industrial Trust Building downtown for the keynote speaker, Curt Viebranz, president and CEO of Mount Vernon. Viebranz, previously an executive at both AOL and HBO International, is expected to address digital efforts in preservation.
His address is from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday and is free and open to the public.
The location of the event, the iconic ‘Superman’ Building, at 111 Westminster St., is expected to be the topic of a panel discussion Friday, “When the Lantern Goes Out: Community Responses to the Industrial Trust Building.” That session is from 1:45-2:45 p.m. Friday.
The symposium will run on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For more information, visit www.ProvidenceSymposium.com.
