‘Providence Tomorrow’ hearing delayed to May 16

PROVIDENCE – The City Plan Commission has delayed its public hearing on “Providence Tomorrow: The Interim Comprehensive Plan” until 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16.

The meeting – original scheduled for tonight at Meeting Street school – was postponed becuase of an error in notifying the Office of the Secretary of State. The site of the May 16 meeting has not yet been determined.

Public comments on the plan will be accepted online at www.providenceplanning.org until next Tuesday, the day before the hearing, the Department of Planning and Development said.

Last May, City Council and Mayor David N. Cicilline announced their intention to create a plan for the growth and preservation of Providence’s neighborhoods. Over the following months, they enlisted the help of residents and business owners in drafting the plan.

Additional information about “Providence Tomorrow: The Interim Comprehensive Plan” can be viewed at www.providenceplanning.org, where the draft document can be viewed as a PDF and public comments will be accepted through Tuesday, May 15. Comments also may be submitted at the May 16 public hearing.
