R.I. Bar Association names new leadership

PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island Bar Association began the week by announcing multiple new leadership appointments Monday.

Linda Rekas Sloan, assistant vice president of business development and counsel in the Rhode Island office of the Fidelity National Title Group in Providence, was named president of the association. She also serves as principal at the West Greenwich-based Linda Rekas Sloan, LLC firm where she specializes in receivership. Sloan graduated from Providence College and has a law degree from Boston University.

Sloan’s term will run through June 30, 2018.

RIBAR also announced that Carolyn R. Barone will serve as president-elect of the association until June 30, 2018. Throughout her professional career she has been associated with Warwick’s Kirshenbaum Law Associates, Inc. and specializes in family law.

The position of Rhode Island Bar Association treasurer will be held by David N. Bazar through June 2018. Senior partner at Bazar & Associates, in East Providence, Bazar graduated from Trinity College and has previously served as editor in chief of the Rhode Island Bar Journal.

In addition, Richard P. D’Addario has been named secretary of the RIBAR. A solo practitioner, he keeps an office in Newport and concentrates on real estate, probate and related litigation.

The Rhode Island Bar Association, which was formed in 1898, has a membership of more than 6,000 individuals.
