R.I. gas prices continue climb, Mass. stays flat

PROVIDENCE – Prices for self-serve, regular, unleaded gasoline increased 4 cents this week to $2.74 per gallon, 6 cents above the national average.

Prices in Rhode Island for regular gas range 22 cents, from $2.65 to $2.87 per gallon.

“Regional gasoline supplies dropped last week, reflecting tighter supply due to those refineries remaining offline after Hurricane Harvey,” said Lloyd Albert, AAA Northeast senior vice president of public and government affairs. “As pipelines and refineries return to their full operations, prices should start to decrease later in the month.”

The average price for midgrade unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island cane in at $2.98, ranging from $2.85 to $3.08. Premium unleaded averaged $3.16 this week, ranging from $2.98 to $3.28.

Diesel gasoline averaged $2.71 in the Ocean State this week, ranging from $2.61 to $2.80 per gallon.

In Massachusetts, the average price for self-serve, regular, unleaded gasoline remained unchanged at $2.71, 3 cents above the national average. Prices for regular gas ranged 39 cents from $2.46 to $2.85 per gallon.

Midgrade unleaded gasoline in Massachusetts averaged $2.92 per gallon, ranging from $2.78 to $3.10. Premium unleaded gas averaged $3.09 per gallon, ranging from $2.86 to $3.29. Diesel averaged $2.76 per gallon, ranging from $2.56 to $3.02 per gallon.
