PROVIDENCE – Gas prices in Rhode Island dropped 1 cent this week. The average price of self-serve regular unleaded gas in the Ocean State is now $2.30 a gallon, the same as the national average, according to AAA Northeast. The price of gasoline in Rhode Island is unchanged year over year.

The price of gas in Rhode Island ranges 21 cents, from a low of $2.20 to a high of $2.41 per gallon.

“Across the country, gas prices dropped in all but four states over the past week,” said Lloyd Albert, senior vice president of public and government affairs for AAA Northeast. “Lower demand thus far in June, plus high oil production rates in the United States, could lead to gas prices across the nation continuing to fall through the end of the month.”

Prices for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline in Massachusetts decreased 5 cent to $2.22 per gallon, 8 cents below the national average, and 3 cents lower than this time last year. Prices in the Bay State range 35 cents, from $2.12 to $2.25 per gallon.
