PROVIDENCE – The average price of self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline declined 3 cents this week in Rhode Island to $2.56 per gallon, 4 cents above the national average of $2.52 per gallon, according to AAA Northeast Monday.
Last year at this time, regular gasoline was on average 35 cents lower at $2.21 per gallon. This week, prices ranged 36 cents, from $2.33 to $2.69 per gallon.
- Midgrade gasoline averaged $2.85 per gallon this week, ranging from $2.62 to $2.99 per gallon.
- Premium gasoline in Rhode Island averaged $3.02 this week, ranging from $2.79 to $3.19 per gallon.
- Diesel fuel averaged $3.04 this week, ranging from $2.69 to $3.06 per gallon.
In Massachusetts, regular gasoline declined 1 cent this week and averaged $2.49 per gallon, 3 cents below the national average.
Prices in Massachusetts ranged 50 cents from $2.29 to $2.79 per gallon. Last year at this time, prices in the Bay State were 32 cents lower at $2.17 per gallon.
