PROVIDENCE – Gasoline prices in Rhode Island rose 3 cents this week to $2.35 per gallon for self-serve, regular unleaded gas according to AAA Northeast on Tuesday. Over the year, the price of gas increased 1 cent per gallon.
Gas prices in the state remain 3 cents lower than the national average of $2.38. Ocean State gas prices range 28 cents, from $2.18 to $2.46 per gallon.

Massachusetts self-serve, regular unleaded gas prices rose 3 cents both this week as well as year over year to $2.32 per gallon for self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline. Price ranges in Massachusetts range 34 cents, from $2.18 to $2.52 per gallon.
“It’s not surprising to see pump prices rise this week, given the fact that record numbers of Americans hit the road Memorial Day weekend – boosting demand for gasoline, and pushing up prices in the process,” said Mary Maguire, Director of Public and Legislative Affairs for AAA Northeast in a statement.
The price of self-serve, regular unleaded gas prices rose 4 cents nationally year over year.
