PROVIDENCE – The average price of self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island declined 3 cents this week to average $2.56 per gallon, 14 cents higher than the national average of $2.42 per gallon and level with prices one year prior, according to AAA Northeast Monday.
Prices ranged 46 cents, from a low of $2.33 to a high of $2.79 per gallon.
“With many motorists planning holiday road trips, the drop in pump prices couldn’t come at a better time,” stated Lloyd Albert, AAA Northeast senior vice president of public and government affairs. “In every state, gas prices have dropped by double digits month over month, and AAA expects the national gas price average to dip as low as $2.40 by year’s end due to cheaper crude oil prices.”
- Midgrade gas averaged $2.91 this week, ranging from $2.59 to $3.29 per gallon
- Premium gas averaged $3.08 this week, ranging from $2.79 to $3.49 per gallon
- Diesel fuel averaged $3.17 this week, ranging from $2.99 to $3.29 per gallon
In Massachusetts, the average price of regular gas declined 2 cents to $2.62 per gallon, 20 cents higher than the national average and 13 cents higher than this time last year. Prices in the Bay State ranged 70 cents, from a low of $2.39 to a high of $3.09 per gallon.
- Midgrade gas in Massachusetts averaged $2.89 this week, ranging from $2.52 to $3.49 per gallon
- Premium gas averaged $3.08, ranging from $2.83 to $3.59 per gallon
- Diesel fuel averaged $3.13, ranging from $2.87 to $3.39 per gallon
