R.I., Mass. gas prices dip 1 cent this week

PROVIDENCE – The average price of self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island declined 1 cent this week to $2.50 per gallon, 15 cents lower than the national average of $2.65 per gallon, according to AAA Northeast Monday.

The average price of regular gas was 34 cents lower than at this time last year. Prices ranged 34 cents from $2.35 to $2.69 per gallon.

  • Midgrade gas averaged $2.78 per gallon, ranging from $2.64 to $2.86 per gallon.
  • Premium gas averaged $2.99 per gallon, ranging from $2.84 to $3.20 per gallon.
  • Diesel fuel averaged $2.98 per gallon, ranging from $2.85 to $3.55 per gallon.

In Massachusetts, the average price of regular gas declined 1 cent to $2.55 per gallon, 10 cents lower than the national average and 28 cents lower than prices one year prior.

Prices ranged 76 cents from $2.29 to $3.05 per gallon.
