PROVIDENCE – R.I. Commerce Corp. is accepting proposals through Jan. 6, 2023, for its RI Rebounds Ventilation Support Program, an initiative that will give eligible businesses throughout the state up to $10,000 for projects to improve their ventilation systems.
The Ventilation Support Program, or Ventilation Initiative, was created to help small businesses improve indoor air quality in an effort to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. It will provide approximately $2.5 million in grants to reimburse businesses for expenses that went into improvement of the ventilation system.

The program is part of the RI Rebounds initiative, which invests funds from the American Rescue Plan State Fiscal Recovery Fund into programs to assists Rhode Island small businesses, provide support for children and families and promote affordable housing.
Eligible expenses include installing a higher-grade filter; installing, repairing or balancing a central HVAC; adding portable fan filter units; adding indoor air purifiers; adding windows or fans.
The program is open to nonprofits, chambers of commerce, municipalities, merchant associations, tourism regions, arts and culture organizations, and businesses registered with the R.I. Secretary of State that conduct operations within the State of Rhode Island and are proposing to serve as intermediaries to businesses or other entities. Small businesses must have less than $1 million in annual gross revenue, not be disbarred in the federal System of Account Management and prove they were negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic to be eligible.
Interested businesses must submit a proposal before 4 p.m. on Jan. 6, 2023, and they must demonstrate they plan to use the funding before Sept. 30, 2023. An informational Zoom session will be held on Dec. 19 for interested parties.
