R.I. implements new statewide recycling program, education campaign

PROVIDENCE – The state and Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corp. are partnering with nonprofit Recycle Across America to begin implementing standardized labels on recycling bins statewide, to make it easier for people to recycle more and recycle right.

State officials teamed up with local celebrities during Earth Week to celebrate the partnership and Rhode Island’s recycling efforts.

In addition to celebrating the new program, officials and celebrities were photographed by celebrity photographer Timothy White for the upcoming education campaign, “Let’s Recycle RIght,” which will launch in June to bring awareness to the new labels and the need for proper recycling.

Among those photographed were Lt. Gov. Daniel McKee; Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea; and Lifespan CEO Timothy Babineau.
