R.I., Mass. gas prices continue gradual decline

PROVIDENCE – The average price of self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline dropped 4 cents this week to $2.48 per gallon, 4 cents above the national average and 20 cents higher than this time last year, according to AAA Northeast Tuesday.

Prices in Rhode Island ranged 34 cents this week from a low of $2.35 to a high of $2.69 per gallon.

Midgrade unleaded averaged $2.74 per gallon, ranging from $2.58 to $2.99 per gallon.

Premium unleaded averaged $2.91 this week, ranging from $2.78 to $3.09 per gallon.

Diesel fuel averaged $2.84 this week, ranging from $2.75 to $2.89 per gallon.

In Massachusetts, regular gasoline averaged $2.43 per gallon this week, a decline of 3 cents from last week. Massachusetts gas prices were 1 cent below the national average and 21 cents higher than this time last year.

Prices in Massachusetts ranged 32 cents from a low of $2.27 to a high of $2.59 per gallon.

Midgrade unleaded averaged $2.70 in Massachusetts this week, ranging from $2.58 to $2.99 per gallon.

Premium unleaded gas in Massachusetts averaged $2.87 this week, ranging from $2.67 to $3.05 per gallon.

Diesel fuel in the Bay State averaged $2.81 this week, ranging from $2.69 to $3.03 per gallon.
