R.I., nation churning out more engineers

The U.S. has dramatically increased the number of graduates with engineering doctorates, more than at any time in the past 30 years, according to a recent report by the National Science Foundation. And the pool is more gender-diverse than in previous years, with 23 percent of the degrees going to women. U.S. colleges and universities
