The 40-foot British Soldier and 46-foot Dawn Star ready for the June 26 start of the Transatlantic Race 2011 in waters off Castle Hill in Newport. Six yachts began their journey across the Atlantic that day to South Cornwall, England. By July 3 a total of 30 boats had set sail on a 2,975 nautical-mile course.
