PAWTUCKET – Minor League Baseball announced its top 25 teams in licensed merchandising for 2016 on Monday and while the Boston Red Sox AA affiliate team, the Portland Sea Dogs, made the list, the Pawtucket Red Sox, the team’s AAA affiliate, did not (the top 25 teams make this list, but they are not ranked).
The PawSox made the top 25 the previous year as the only Red Sox-affiliated team in the top 25, while Portland held that honor in 2013 and 2014. Both teams made the list in 2012.

Few Major League teams have multiple affiliates appear on the list at once. Of the 20 Major League Baseball teams affiliated with the top 25 retail selling Minor League teams for 2016, only the Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Houston Astros, San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres had two affiliates make the list.
According to the press release, 2016 was a record year for Minor League Baseball retail sales, totaling $68.3 million from the 160 teams developing baseball players.
