EAST PROVIDENCE – The city was named the top municipality in Rhode Island to live with a $50,000-per-year salary in a report from GoBankingRates released last week.
Each state had a city in the report. Cities included were required to have a minimum of 5,000 residents and an annual median income of $45,000 to $55,000. The report then measured cost-of-living expenses in relationship to $50,000.

The municipality with the lowest cost-of-living expenses on the list was Austin, Minn., with an annual-necessities cost of $26,171.95.
The measured costs in the study included rent, groceries, utilities, transportation and health care, among other things.
