PROVIDENCE – Kahn Litwin Renza & Co. Ltd. was the only Rhode Island-based accounting firm to be ranked among the nation’s 400 largest, according to trade publication Inside Public Accounting, which recently released its annual rankings of the largest accounting firms based in the United States.
The firm moved up two notches from last year’s list, to rank at No. 87 on this year’s list, which was based on net revenue. With five offices, the firm’s net revenue rose 6 percent this year to about $46.8 million, according to Inside Public Accounting.

Although Rhode Island didn’t have multiple home-grown accounting firms on the list, many of the nation’s largest firms have a presence in or near the Ocean State.
Not too far up Interstate 95 in Massachusetts is the accounting firm of Gray Gray & Gray LLP in Canton. The firm ranked at No. 160 nationwide with net revenue of about $22.9 million, up 1.2 percent, or three notches, in the rankings from last year, according to the list.
New York-based Deloitte again topped the rankings with net revenue of $18.6 billion, up 5.9 percent from last year.
New York-based PriceWaterhouseCoopers again ranked second with net revenue of nearly $16 billion, up 11.7 percent from last year.
New York-based EY again ranked third with net revenue of $13 billion, up 7 percent from last year.
New York-based KPMG LLP again ranked fourth with net revenue of nearly $9 billion. The percentage change from last year was not available.
Chicago-based RSM US LLP was again in fifth with net revenue of more than $2.1 billion, up 7 percent from last year, according to Inside Public Accounting.
