PROVIDENCE – A recent report by BestColleges ranked Rhode Island as the 20th-best state for workers in the technology sector.

BestColleges based the rankings on factors such as median wage earnings for tech workers, the number of tech-related job postings in the state, cost of living and diversity among tech workers.

Rhode Island ranked relatively higher in median wages for tech earnings, at No. 11 in the nation, and No. 12 in overall well-being. But the state’s overall ranking was weighed down by factors such as a high cost of living and comparatively fewer job postings in technology.

On the same list, Massachusetts ranked No. 24, while Connecticut ranked No. 19.

Georgia took the top spot for the best state for tech workers, according to BestColleges, followed by Virginia and Maryland.
