Rhode Island Foundation offering grants to benefit Latino community

PROVIDENCE – The deadline for applications to the Rhode Island Foundation for grants in support of the local Latino community through the Juanita Sánchez Community Fund is Sept. 29.

Guided by an advisory committee, the fund, which issues grants ranging in size from $500 to $1,500, began as contributions from Sánchez’s friends and family members. To date, more than $93,000 in grants have been awarded from the fund. Recent recipients include Beat the Streets Providence ($610), Community Preparatory School in Providence ($500) and Southside Community Land Trust ($500).
