PROVIDENCE – More than 550 guests were jointly hosted by Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital at the annual President’s Pursuit of Excellence Dinner.

Held on Nov. 15 at the R.I. Convention Center, the event celebrated the achievements of Rhode Island Hospital in 2018 – including the hospital’s partnership with GE Healthcare aimed at improving health care delivery – and honored the three community champions for their contributions to the local community.

H. Carr & Sons Inc., whose president and CEO, James Carr Jr., sits on the Rhode Island Hospital foundation board, was presented the Corporate Champion award.

The 2018 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award was Dr. Richard Goldberg, who served Lifespan Corp. in the psychiatry field for four decades and, in 2017, led the development of Rhode Island Hospital’s Opioid Addiction Treatment Program.

The third and final local champion recognized that evening was Rosalyn Sinclair, who was presented the Individual Champion award. A longtime donor, her name graces the Samuels Sinclair Dental Center, opened in 1931 with the aim of treating children who could not afford to pay for dental care. The Joseph S. and Rosalyn K. Sinclair Foundation allows the family to continue its legacy of generosity.

Videos of each of the champions can be found online.
