PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island Medical Imaging has earned a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation from the American College of Radiology.
The Providence-based center, which has locations across the state, successfully completed an application process that included earning accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and breast MRI. Peer-review evaluations were conducted by physicians and physicists as well.

Facilities are evaluated on image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.
Imaging centers at Rhode Island Hospital, Kent Hospital, Newport Hospital, Women & Infants Hospital and XRA Medical Imaging share the designation.
