RIAC to get $10M to buy houses near T.F. Green

WASHINGTON – The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded $10 million to the R.I. Airport Corporation to acquire homes near T.F. Green Airport that are included in the present voluntary home acquisition program, U.S. Sen. Jack Reed said last week.
“This home acquisition program has been essential in helping families living around T.F. Green Airport who have been forced to deal with the problem of airport noise,” Reed said. “While this federal funding will go a long way to help these families, noise issues still persist for many home and business owners. I will continue to address the issue with transportation and FAA officials.”
RIAC President and CEO Mark Brewer said the $10 million will accelerate the buyout of homes near the airport, part of an effort by the agency to mitigate the impact of airport noise to the surrounding communities. About 100 people are expected to benefit.
