River House opens leasing, anticipates occupancy June 1

PROVIDENCE – The River House apartments, under construction at 1 Point St. in the Jewelry District, have opened leasing in anticipation of a June move-in date, according to GMH Capital Partners LP, the property management company.

GMH is working with project developer Wexford Science & Technology in leasing the 270-bed luxury apartments. Designed by Boston architect Spagnolo Gisness & Associates, the River House apartments are aimed at university students, young professionals and families who want to live within walking distance of downtown Providence and the riverfront.

The design features a pair of seven-story buildings that includes 270 bedrooms among 174 units.

Leasing offices will open on-site on Feb. 13.

According to its announcement, building amenities include direct water access for tenants, who can store kayaks and boats; apartments with designer bathrooms and walk-in showers; in-unit washer and dryer; and a rooftop lounge with a fire pit.

The apartments are pet-friendly and have off-site parking for tenants and on-site building management.

According to online listings, rents start at $1,895 a month for a 395-square-foot efficiency unit, and then progress up to $3,750 for larger, 2-bedroom units. Rentals by the bed and roommate matching service also are an option.

River House is located in the innovation district under development in Providence and is in close proximity to the Rhode Island Nursing Education Center and the Warren Albert Medical School of Brown University.
