PROVIDENCE – Roger Williams Medical Center opened a new 12,000-square-foot emergency room last week, according to CharterCARE Health Partners.
The new facility has 22 treatment rooms, new equipment, and enhanced safety and security technology, according to the health care organization.

“This beautiful, modern and accessible facility will add a critical resource for Rhode Island, especially the metropolitan Providence area,” stated Jeffrey Liebman, CEO of CharterCARE Health Partners, the parent of Roger Williams. “Our exceptional and highly experienced emergency medicine physicians and nurses now have a facility that assures they will be able to continue providing top-level emergency care.”
The new ER is Phase I of a $15.1 million project to revamp the hospital’s emergency department. The second phase of the project includes the renovation of the former emergency department room space to provide six psychiatric and substance emergency treatment room beds, an EMS room and administrative office space.
