QUINCY, Mass. – Three schools in the area were among the biggest beneficiaries of the Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. LLC’s A+ School Rewards Program, which distributed $1 million to thousands of Northeast schools this year.
B.F. Norton School in Cumberland received $2,880 from the program that allows customers to designate the shopping points to schools of their choice. William M. Davies Jr. Career & Technical High School in Lincoln received $2,661, and in Somerset, Mass., North Elementary School received $2,500.
The A+ School Rewards Program distributed checks to more than 3,100 schools in the Northeast.
Customers accrued points from Oct. 8, 2010 through March 24. Participating schools had the opportunity to secure additional cash rewards from $100 to $1,000 through principal challenges, writing and art contests.
Money from the rewards program can be allocated to a variety of school-directed programs, or used to purchase equipment, teaching supplies and learning tools. •
