Seekonk storyteller wins spoken-word Grammy

SEEKONK – Bill Harley, a children’s book author, storyteller, humorist and performer, has won his first Grammy Award, in the Best Spoken Word Album for Children category, for his 2006 CD, “Blah Blah Blah.”
Harley accepted the award Feb. 11 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in a ceremony that preceded the televised show that night.
He had been nominated for Grammy awards twice before.
Harley has been writing and performing for children and adults for more than 20 years and has published 25 recordings of songs and stories and five children’s books. He also does theater, concerts, workshops and public speaking and has been a commentator on National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered.” He tours nationally as a solo artist; with his band, the Troublemakers; and with pianist Keith Munslow.
