
WARWICK – Passenger activity at T.F. Green Airport increased 6.25 percent year over year in September, according to the R.I. Airport Corp.
In September, 321,282 passengers were enplaned and deplaned, an increase of 18,901 travelers year over year.

Southwest Airlines accounted for the most passengers in September with 119,844, a 2.5 percent decline year over year. Southwest traffic represented 37.3 percent of all traffic in September.
New-to-Rhode Island carriers kept the airport from showing a decline in year-over-year traffic. Norwegian Air accounted for 16,655 passengers in September, while discount carrier Frontier Airlines enplaned and deplaned 15,482. Another discount airline, Allegiant, began service Sept. 28, but transported 302 passengers in the last three days of the month. All told, the new carriers added 32,439 travelers to the Green totals, more than 10 percent of all passenger traffic.
Year to date, 2.8 million passengers have flown from and to T.F. Green, an increase of 3.7 percent year over year.
The airport was conduit for 2.5 million pounds of cargo in September, an increase of 5.11 percent year over year from September 2016’s 2.4 million. Federal Express shipped the most cargo through T.F. Green in September, with 1.3 million pounds of mail and freight. United Parcel Service was the second largest cargo service at T.F. Green with 961,716 pounds of mail and freight for the month.
Year to date, 20.2 million pounds of cargo has been shipped in and out of T.F. Green.
