MIDDLETOWN – Construction is underway on a $7.5 million headquarters for Child & Family, a local nonprofit social services agency that provides child, adult and family services including residential services for children and teens.
The agency currently has two offices in Middletown, as well as offices in Newport and Providence. The 38,736-square-foot facility being built in Middletown will allow for a consolidation with all employees working from one location, Child & Family said.

The 100-bed facility – designed by Providence’s Vision 3 Architects – will be the first in the Ocean State to be classified as a “High Performance Building” under National Grid’s Advanced Building Systems program.
That distinction was awarded because the facility will exceed all required energy-efficiency codes, including cutting energy consumption by 30 percent, according to Vision3.
