WARWICK – SESA, makers of transportation messaging technologies, just tested and commissioned several solar-powered weigh-station signs in New Hampshire.
SESA partnered with New England Signal Systems and New England Traffic Solutions on the project. The signs, on Interstate 93 near Windham, N.H., will display whether weigh stations on both sides of the highway are open or closed.

“Deployment of solar energy systems for ITS equipment is on the rise and this project illustrates the benefits of this technology,” said SESA President Phil Perut.
The Blank Out Signs, as they are called, include solar PV panels, batteries and a solar charge controller. The systems are made to withstand harsh cold or extreme heat, SESA said in a statement.
