SquadLocker finishes $7M Series B financing

WARWICK – SquadLocker Inc., the online provider of custom sport apparel, finished its series B Round financing with $7 million led by Causeway Media Partners.

SquadLocker co-founder and CEO Gary Goldberg said the company will now focus on continuing to drive its revenue and boost its advertising, building out manufacturing, purchasing more plant equipment in Warwick and training.

“SquadLocker’s offering is well timed with the growing need for a mass customized, athlete-focused solution as consumers continue to move away from shopping at traditional local retailers. We believe the market will continue to follow this shift, and we are impressed with SquadLocker’s strong channel partners and deep manufacturing expertise,” stated Bob Higgins, partner at Causeway Media.

SquadLocker, which currently employs about 100 people, expects to hire 20-30 employees ranging from executive jobs to hourly jobs, Goldberg said.

As the retail sector shows signs of unsteadiness, Goldberg also seemed confident in his company’s stance going forward.

“We’re competing with thousands of brick-and-mortar mom and pop shops,” said Goldberg, whom he argues can’t compete with the customer service, modern experience and speed his company provides. “Look, no one’s immune to economic downturn, but people continue to spend money on their kids and on their kid’s sports teams.”

SquadLocker provides customization for sports gear and apparel, overseeing transactions from the point of sale to production and fulfillment as well as customer support.

James Lombardi, the company’s lead investor, also participated in the Series B financing.
