The decline in passengers was led by passenger declines among Frontier Airlines (traffic declined 21,798 passengers year over year to 20,788), Norwegian Airlines (declined 17,090 passengers year over year to 5,220) and Southwest Airlines (declined 16,426 passengers year over year to 134,152).

Those declines were offset by the introduction of Sun Country Airlines traffic (totaling 10,425 passengers in July) and an 8,648-passenger increase in JetBlue Airways traffic to total 24,926 passengers for the month.

Norwegian has since announced it had pulled operations from T.F. Green due to events related to the grounding of the Boeing Max 8 plane. Sun Country Airlines recently announced it had ended its seasonal flights at the airport early.

The carrier with the most traffic for the month was Southwest Airlines with 134,152 passengers, followed by American Airlines with 90,420 passengers.

Traffic for the month was the second-highest traffic in July since 2015, only surpassed by July 2018.

Cargo traffic at T.F. Green declined 70.8% year over year to 2.2 million pounds, largely due to the discontinuation of shipping operations related to Amazon.com Inc. at the airport.
