Adam Dias | Custom Design Inc. president
Transitioning from one role to another is never easy, particularly when the shoes you’re filling are those of your father, someone who started the company in his garage in his early 20s.
Luckily for me, it wasn’t a complete shock. I’d been training for the new position in one way or another and gradually taking on more and more responsibility over the past 20 years, as my dad knew that this was the direction he wanted to take his company.
In a lot of ways that benefited me and has made the transition easier, not only because I knew it was coming, but because I worked for a number of years with an eye on what was coming next. I listened to the veterans of the manufacturing industry, who had spent their whole lives creating companies like Custom Design, and I absorbed every lesson I could.
Along the way, I came up with some ideas of my own and tried to foresee a model in which I could mesh the older, proven methods with a forward-thinking company that was set up for further, long-term success.
Maintaining the vision and the client base that Custom Design has built over the years is important, but no longer enough in the business of manufacturing, which has seen a rapid decline in workforce over the years.
It’s my responsibility to grow, improve upon and continue the legacy of a company that has already given me so much. Custom Design is my family, and I’m thrilled to oversee where we go next.
