TD Bank to open first 3 R.I. ‘stores’

PROVIDENCE – TD Bank’s expansion into Rhode Island officially begins Friday, Nov. 12, when the bank opens its first Ocean State branch.
The Barrington “store” – TD Bank refers to all its branches as stores – will be the first to open, followed the next day by branches in East Providence and Johnston.
To mark the occasion, the bank – a $134 billion U.S. subsidiary of Toronto-based TD Bank Financial Group – will offer free coffee and food, balloon artists, DJs and drawings and giveaways on Saturday, Nov. 13.
An announcement released by TD Bank said individuals and families are invited to the celebration, “including pets.”
The bank, which in its focus on convenience for the customers has branch hours seven days a week, has said it plans to open another five to 10 branches in Rhode Island by the end of 2011.
The branches opening this month are located at 231 County Road, Barrington; 440 Pawtucket Ave., East Providence; and 1547 Atwood Ave., Johnston. The bank is seeking LEED certification for each location.
