The Providence Housing Authority, which helps provide affordable housing to more than 12,000 residents in the city of Providence, received $175,000.
Neighborworks Blackstone River Valley, a nonprofit community development corporation that works with residents, businesses, neighborhood institutions, partners and communities to enrich neighborhood life and make affordable housing opportunities available throughout northern Rhode Island, was awarded $150,000.
“Housing organizations have been on the front lines of both the affordability crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic. They have been called upon time and time again over the past few years to do everything from helping people find affordable homes to serving as vaccine clinics,” Paige Carlson-Heim, director of the TD Charitable Foundation, said in a statement. “Each time, they’ve stepped up and expanded their mandates to meet the needs of some of the most vulnerable members of our communities and work towards an equitable COVID-19 recovery.”
