WARWICK – The Kent Center for Human and Organizational Development Inc., which merged with Riverwood Mental Health Services in 2017, announced Wednesday it has rebranded as Thrive Behavioral Health.
“Due to the merger, our organization has grown well-beyond the borders of Kent County,” said Daniel Kubas-Meyer, president and CEO of Thrive Behavioral Health. “It was our goal to come up with a name that spoke directly to our core mission: to provide individuals suffering from behavioral health issues with the tools they require to thrive.”

Thrive Behavioral Health is a multidisciplinary, comprehensive human service organization with the capacity to customize services to best address the needs of the people in the community. Its objectives are to integrate services, remove systemic barriers, explore innovative practices, and produce positive outcomes in collaboration with both the people it serves and other providers in the community, according to a statement from the company.
Thrive provides behavioral health services, community support programs, and youth and family services to 4,000 children, adolescents, adults and seniors throughout Rhode Island. Its offices are located in Warwick, Providence and Warren. Its specialty services include:
- Hillsgrove House Clubhouse, 70 Minnesota Ave., Warwick, which offers a work-ordered day program to people with severe and persistent mental illness
- The Eleanor Briggs School, 116 Long St., Warwick, which provides K-12 special-educational services for students who require emotional, behavioral and mental health support
- Supplemental Security Income/Social Security Disability Income Outreach, Access, and Recovery Program, which increases access to disability-income benefit programs administered by the Social Security Administration to adults who are experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness and have a serious mental illness, medical impairment, and/or a co-occurring substance use disorder.
Kent Center for Human and Organizational Development Inc. and Riverwood Mental Health Services merged in June 2017. Riverwood was integrated as a division of The Kent Center, with an operating budget of more than $20 million. The merger resulted in no reported layoffs for the 270 employees at the newly formed agency at the time.
The agency has been providing services in Rhode Island since 1976.
