Peter Englehart has been named store director for Tiffany & Co.’s new store in the Providence Place mall, which opens Nov. 15. Englehart most recently served as chief operating officer for Boston-based Shreve, Crump & Low, and previously was general manager of Cranston-based Ross-Simons’ Warwick store. Englehart will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Tiffany store in Providence and will act as the community and charitable liaison for the company in the state.

PBN: As an international company, Tiffany & Co. is inclined to hire local employees in their local markets. What are your ties to the Rhode Island community?
ENGLEHART: I chose Rhode Island as the place where I wanted to raise my family –this is not something that just happened. It was a deliberate choice because I felt so strongly about the community. While living here, I’ve met some of the finest and most qualified people of deep character and commitment. It is locals like these who we are currently training to become the dynamic face of Tiffany & Co. at Providence Place.

PBN: Are you looking forward to working in Providence?
ENGLEHART: Yes, this is the perfect homecoming. Tiffany selected Providence because it is a vibrant city with a growing population and vibrant economy. I feel the same way about returning home; it’s the right time and opportunity for me, too.

PBN: With 16 years of experience, how do you define luxury retail?
ENGLEHART: Luxury is and has always been a byword for quality and exclusivity.
Customers who appreciate fine design and craftsmanship look to luxury brands for inspiration. There is a heritage of consumer trust and confidence that needs to be built over time. These longstanding customer relationships have made Tiffany & Co. the premier source for gifts for memorable personal and family occasions, as well as objects of desire that epitomize a life lived well.
