TIMES2 Institute to host STEM Conference for Youth May 4

PROVIDENCE – TIMES2 Institute, which offers programming for science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM, learners of all ages, will host the IDEAL (Increasing Diversity, Equity And Leadership) STEM Conference for Youth on Saturday, May 4.

The first of its kind in Rhode Island, the conference will feature 200 middle school and high school students from Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut underrepresented populations. The students will be able to participate in STEM activities and interact with STEM professionals in various fields, according to a news release.

The conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Rhode Island College in Providence.

A keynote address will be delivered by Kantis Simmons, a rocket scientist, motivational speaker and STEM education expert. La Salle Academy student, entrepreneur and science fair winner Sree Dasari will be the conference’s youth speaker.

The day’s schedule also includes breakfast, lunch and breakout sessions, as well as a panel discussion.

The IDEAL STEM Conference for Youth is the third and final event in the 2018-19 season of TIMES2 Institute’s STEM Talks Rhode Island speaker series, modeled after the TED Talks platform.
