GETS LLC is bringing a new twist to Rhode Island’s clean-energy business.
Based in downtown Providence, the fledgling Green Energy Tower System company is being set up to build ground-mounted towers 100 feet to 150 feet tall that provide solar and wind energy and can be equipped with security cameras. The towers would be topped with wind turbines and solar panels. Currently, the firm is marketing primarily to colleges and universities and small manufacturers, but it has yet to build a tower.
Costing roughly $700,000 each, the towers could supplement or, in certain cases, replace a business’ or a school’s power supply.
The local, three-person operation is a subsidiary of a much larger company in Poland by the same name. The local subsidiary opened nine months ago as the company’s U.S. headquarters. Local staff consists of managing partner Tomasz Sadowski, partner Ana Morgan and Magdalena Sadowska.
“GETS towers were designed to be resistant to hurricanes … and could also serve as supporting structures,” Morgan said. “We think there’s a lot of potential here.”
