Waddill to discuss assistive tech at Asperger/Autism Network conference

PROVIDENCE – The Asperger/Autism Network, based in Massachusetts, is hosting its summer conference at Rhode Island College on Aug. 7.

It will focus on the assistive technology that educators can use as tools in teaching students. Tech tools for reading and writing will be discussed, as will assessment and intervention planning.

The event, “Assistive Technology: Reading and Writing Tools for Educators,” features Karen Waddill, director of Cotting Consulting at Cotting School in Lexington, Mass.

The consulting group provides technology-based assessments, intervention and trainings to educators in the Boston area. Waddill is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is certified as an assistive technology professional, among other credentials, according to the event listing.

The event is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the college on Mount Pleasant Avenue in Providence.

It costs $110 to attend, or $130 if you are a professional requesting either continuing-education units or professional-development points.
