BURRILLVILLE – WellOne Primary Medical and Dental Care, with locations in Burrillville, Scituate, Foster and North Kingstown, announced it won the R.I. Department of Health’s WISEWOMAN challenge, a competition among community health centers and the Rhode Island Free Clinic.
The WISEWOMAN, which stands for Well-Integrated Screening and Evaluation for Women across the Nation, program is designed to help women live longer and feel better through improved heart health. It provides screenings for heart disease; lab work and test results for cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar; health coaching in nutrition, physical activity and smoking cessation; fitness and weight loss programs; and glucose strips for women with diabetes, all at no charge to the users.

Participating health centers were challenged to complete and submit at least 36 screenings between Jan. 30 and June 2 of this year. WellOne’s 41 screenings outnumbered every other site’s screenings.
“Promoting and maintaining the highest level of well-being for the individual, family and community has always been a priority at WellOne,” Andrea Marcotte, chief medical officer, said in a statement. “Our staff [has] worked diligently to engage eligible participants in the program and optimize health outcomes. WellOne connects all of the key services necessary for promoting well-being. The WISEWOMAN program provides one way that helps us achieve this.”
